NEW ROSS, COUNTY WEXFORD

Waterford 14 miles; Wexford 23 miles.

The town of New Ross is located in the estuary of the River Barrow, in County Wexford. Home to the replica of the Dunbrody Famine Ship on the quayfront, which transported John F Kennedy's great grandparents to the United States of America, New Ross makes a great base from which to drive around the scenic Ring of Hook and take in the Hook lighthouse and both Dunbrody and Tintern Abbey. The area offers fine beaches and restaurants, with seafood being a speciality, and a number of activities including angling, canoeing, windsurfing, snorkelling, golf and quad biking, with river cruises also available.
